Later Than You Think

What I mean....is that the time is short....For this world in it's present form is passing away. (1 Corinthians 7:29, 31)

Many of us cannot grasp the truth that the time allotted to us on this earth is sufficient for all the Lord has planned for us to do. We don't need one minute more or one minute less to get the job done: Our greatest fear is running out of time. So we hurry through life trying desperately to get everything done: working overtime, eating fast food in the car, and racing down the highway.

In our quest to save time, we're losing something. Think about how your grandparents valued time. They had time for our parents, us and other family members and friends; they had time for music in their homes; they emphasized beautifully served meals, family reunions and long conversations. It seemed they had time for everything in life that was important because they took time to live. They treasured the bibical injunction that proclaims, "This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." (Psalm 118:24)

Today, this very day, why don't you think of something that takes a bit of extra time to do and do it....

Maybe it will be an act of generosity or a moment of kindness directed toward a loved one or a stranger. Prehaps it will be simply singing a hymn of praise and thanksgiving because your heart is so full of gratitude.

Don't wait for another time. Rejoice in this day and be glad.

Let me start my work in faith, continue in obedience and finish with love.

Seeing Jesus In My Mentors

We should live our life in the manner that reflects what we believe in our hearts. Our life's testimony should be the same whether if it's in the company of strangers or with those whom we've known a lifetime. We must be uniform in our walk with the Lord treating all people as we would want to be treated and brightly shining our light of love and compassion so that all people will be drawn to God because of what they have seen through us.
Be encouraged to live your life each day so that it's a reflection of what God has commanded in His word; to love God first and love your neighbor as yourself. (1 Peter 1:13-23) (Colossians 3:16-17) (Matthew 22:37-40)
Shine your light before all men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven.

“...I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved. Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 10:33 and 11:1
Jesus appeared to me again the other night. While I see Jesus often in the face of a mentor, I see Jesus best in my Father and Mother in law.

They show me Jesus over and over again. They seem to see the Almighty everywhere. They talk quietly of the power and majesty of the High King of Heaven.

Today my heart is full. They show me Jesus. I pray that some day when my children and grand children awaken in the night and remember me, their “precious memories” will stir thoughts of more than a mom and grandma who loves them, I hope they see a glimpse of Jesus.

But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
2 Corinthians 3:18

Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus declares “Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.”

1 Peter 1:13-16 “Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as He which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I Am holy.”

Isaiah 26:3-4 “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusts in Thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.”

You Are Somebody

"For whom He did foreknow, He also did predistinate to be comformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren." Romans 8:29

Some of us were born to parents who wanted us and rejoiced at our birth. They received us joyfully as precious gifts from God. They raised us as best they could.
Others seem to have been biological accidents, arriving unplanned, unexpected, unwelcomed, and unloved.
No matter what the circumstances of your birth, you are not just a happenstance of nature. God made you!! God uses the best intentions of people. He can also overrule the worst intentions to accomplish His purpose.
God once used a condemned child of a slave woman. By a remarkable twist of events the Lord not only preserved the life of that boy but also gave him the advantages of growing up in a palace. God used strange circumstances to raise up a leader for His ancient people. Yet, when He finally called moses into special service, Moses asked, "Who am I?" (Exodus 3:11). He had self-doubts, felt unfit.
It didn't matter who Moses was or who he had been. What did matter was that God had called him. God wanted to make somebody special out of him.
When you ask, "How come I am what I am?" assure yourself; "By the grace of God I am what I am." (1 Corinthians 15:10)

You are special. God made you!!
