What I mean....is that the time is short....For this world in it's present form is passing away. (1 Corinthians 7:29, 31)
Many of us cannot grasp the truth that the time allotted to us on this earth is sufficient for all the Lord has planned for us to do. We don't need one minute more or one minute less to get the job done: Our greatest fear is running out of time. So we hurry through life trying desperately to get everything done: working overtime, eating fast food in the car, and racing down the highway.
In our quest to save time, we're losing something. Think about how your grandparents valued time. They had time for our parents, us and other family members and friends; they had time for music in their homes; they emphasized beautifully served meals, family reunions and long conversations. It seemed they had time for everything in life that was important because they took time to live. They treasured the bibical injunction that proclaims, "This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." (Psalm 118:24)
Today, this very day, why don't you think of something that takes a bit of extra time to do and do it....
Maybe it will be an act of generosity or a moment of kindness directed toward a loved one or a stranger. Prehaps it will be simply singing a hymn of praise and thanksgiving because your heart is so full of gratitude.
Don't wait for another time. Rejoice in this day and be glad.
Let me start my work in faith, continue in obedience and finish with love.
